How to install your device

Where is the battery in my car?

Your vehicle’s battery is most likely to be found under your bonnet, located next to the engine. However, depending on the make and model of your car, it may be situated in the boot or inside the vehicle itself. If you are unsure, consult your vehicle handbook, manufacturer or search online.

Step01@2x.png

Step 1

Identify the vehicle’s battery and decide which terminals you are going to connect the device wires to.

Step02@2x.png

Step 2

Using the wipes provided, please make sure that the area you will be securing the device to is clean and dry. The surface must be allowed to dry naturally.  Condensation, grease and dust may prevent the device from sticking.

Note: if the device cannot be placed on top of the battery in a flat and forward-facing position, then it can be placed in an alternative location, so long as the two wires leading from the device remain properly connected to the battery. The chosen area needs to be flat, horizontal, clean and dry.

We cannot accept liability for damage to your car caused by your installation or removal of a self-installed telematics device

Step04@2x.png

Step 3

Peel one side of the sticky pad & attach it to the back of the device.

Step05@2x.png

Step 4

The white arrow on the device must be facing the front of the vehicle (this may not necessarily align with the front of the battery) in a straight line. It must be placed on a flat, horizontal surface.

Remove the remaining peel from the sticky pad and place the device on top of the battery (or alternative location) in the area that has been cleaned.

Step03@2x.png

Step 5

Loosen the bolts that secure the clamps to the battery’s positive and negative terminals using a wrench or spanner (not supplied). Be careful not to remove the entire clamp(s) from the terminal heads.

Connect the red cable to the positive feed (red) on the battery and the black cable to the negative feed (black). Once this has been done please retighten the bolts on each terminal. The lights should activate immediately and the device will start searching for a GPS and GSM reception.

What do the lights mean?

Once the device has been correctly installed, three (3) solid lights will be visible, (1 Red, 1 Blue, 1 Green).

If one or more of the lights is either not visible or flashing – please see below;

Why is the power light on the device flashing quickly?

This indicates that the device and/or the vehicle’s battery is being charged. If this continues for a prolonged period of time without turning to a solid light, please contact your insurer for further assistance.

Why is the power light on the device flashing slowly?

This indicates that the device does not have sufficient power and that the vehicle’s battery voltage is below 20%. In order to rectify this, please charge the vehicle’s battery.

I have connected the device to the correct battery terminals, so why is the power light not lit?

If no power light is displayed at all, please check that the vehicle’s battery is not flat, as this is where the device sources its charge from.
